Part A

1. what makes designers and consumers desire these objects?
These objects make designers and consumers desire because these objects ( "Topple" shelf and "Now watch") are unique design and have speciality function than usual product like that. from the bad design or make sense design will create an unique design. The other side this products have speciality or another functions.
for example "Topple" shelf by Julian Appelius, a shelf that is deliberately unstable, which is a reason for bad design, but the designers continue to see design that doesn't quite make sense.
Example:

Julian Appelius discusses 2 products that illustrate this idea: cone-shaped paper cups and angled library tables. each of these products is designed so that it can still perform its function, but restricts the user from using it in other ways. in the case of the cup, the pointy design prevent users from leaving their cup on the table, while still allowing them to drink from it. in the case of angled library table, the desk is designed so that while users are reading documents they are unable to also rest any food or drink on the table.
Another example, the functions of a watch is usually only to tell time, but the "now watch", which is a faceless watch that only has the word "now" written on it, the reason watches like this are made is because they provide a function beyond telling the the time. In the case of the watches, the very notion that they don't tell time is their function, signifying the wearer's personality.

How and where would you place them within contemporary design and culture?
I would place these product into contemporary design in innovation and fashion.

My opinion regarding the subject matter is these products have unique design but, that doesn't make sense, it may have been designed that way for a reason.

PART BDefinition of "Now Watch"
This watch for unisex and people will never again need to worry about running out of batteries or think about daylight saving time. It’s simply “the most accurate time piece ever invented. A timely reminder of the only moment that really matters - NOW. The NOW watch consists of reflective metallic lettering on a traditional watch face that rests on a black leather cuff band. The black unisex design fits all wrists on both men and women.It would also be the end to that strange phenomena when you look at your watch and someone then asks you what time it is.

2. I feel it is just ordinary watch. this watch just simple and the color of the watch naturally, but im curiousity
with this functions of watch.

what kind of emotions does it trigger you?
I am a little bit confuse with the symbol of "now" in the watch. what is mean?
after i read about the features and functions inside the now watch, i have understood, this watch made for
accurate in all time zones throughout the entire universe. A timely reminder of the only
moment that really matters - NOW. The NOW watch consists of reflective metallic lettering on

wrists on both men and women.It's a fun and great idea, but it should come with an ice pack,
because every time somebody asks you the time and you whip this out and tell them "Now"

Final Assignment ( Java Mythology)

In Final assignment, i choose topic about wayang. I did essay 2000words above in paper A4.
in this project report i have written about definition of mythology, after that i explain about wayang, include history of wayang,which is wayang spread into three parts of the era: wayang in the past, wayang in present, and wayang in the future. And Types of wayang, which is spread into seven variety there are wayang kulit, wayang topeng, wayang golek, wayang karucil, wayang beber, wayang sadat, and wayang wahyu. The main topic I choose character of the wayang, Semar and the Ponokawans. and then i explain also about relation between wayang in myth. the preparation before wayang show and example performance of wayang. i talk also about wayang in design. Wayang is a highly developed art form expressive of traditional Javanese values which are significant in understanding Indonesian social and political life.
Wayang is a special form of art because it possesses qualities which are in Javanese referred to as adiluhung and edipeni, very noble and very beautiful, (ethics and aesthetics). i wrote about wayang, hope to continue and keep Indonesian tradition.

Semiotic (Deaf sign)

Semiotic is the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation.

I and my group (Ajeng,Kenneth, and Sarra) decided choose semiotic for deaf people.
we choose deaf sign because :

1. We want to motivate people who have disabilities (deaf people)
   and they are surrounding in our live until we found
   different communities turn out to be a normal condition
   
2. We want to learn more and understand their language a little better
3. We want socialize with them, to make them feel welcome

The original symbol of deafness

• It refers to a tight-knit cultural group of people whose primary language is sign

• Identified him/herself as a member of the Deaf community

Innovation Symbol of Deafness

• To identify themselves tha they are deaf people
  

• As a symbol of caring, protecting, and sharing
  

• As a symbol of unity, harmony between deaf people
  

• The hand represents the meaning of hand language

Before we talk more about sign of deaf people, we should know what is sign language?
Sign language is a language which uses communication, body language, and lip patterns instead of Sound.Combining hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hand, arms or body, and facial expression to express fluidly a speaker's thoughts.
Sign language of the deaf, some signs can meaningfully placed in the space ahead of the signer.
Such spatial uses of signs are an obligatory part of fluent grammatical signing, there is no parallel for this in vocally produced languages.

Conclusion

1. Sign language constitutes as a respected language and gives access to an international deaf community
2. Sign language also allows grater self esteem for the deaf and connects the world to them
3. Hope our improvement symbol can be exist for now and latter
4. Sign languages has developed as a language based on signs but each with unique meaning in deaf communities,which is made up of interpreters and friends and families of deaf people as well as the deaf (hard of hearing) themselves.
5. As of yet Sign language is not fully accepted as a semiotic sign globally, there is still great potential for it to grow and perhaps one day replace language all together to form a single global language.
